Support the initiative of recognizing the Congolese genocide and establishing an International Criminal Tribunal for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
Dear Sir or Madam, The civil war and attacks on civilians by various armed groups in the DRC have resulted in more than six million deaths between 1996 and 2010. This death toll is equivalent to the Jewish Holocaust and more than six times the Rwandan genocide of 1994. Numerous United Nations (UN) reports describe the systematic massacres of civilians, war crimes, violations of human rights and plundering of the DRC. Unfortunately, no one responsible for these crimes has been prosecuted by any national courts. Most perpetrators of these crimes, who also are part of the current ruling class of the DRC, Rwanda and Uganda, obstruct any efforts to recognize the Congolese genocide of 1996 to 2003, as well as to establish an International Criminal Tribunal for the DRC. Most of them have committed these crimes knowing that they would probably not be brought to justice and would not have to answer for their crimes. Justice is a basic right for every human being. Victims of the war in the DRC and their representatives have initiated a petition so that justice is done, through the recognition by the international community of the Congolese genocide, and the establishment of an International Criminal Court for the DRC. Please kindly support this initiative by signing the petition, which appears by clicking here. I will remember your support to this initiative. Thank you,
